Of all the changes that have taken place in our life time, which ones are you most pleased about and which ones do you have trouble adapting to?

What I'm finding about being 57 is I'm noticing things that never seemed to be there before. I was always too busy to see them. Like, the beauty of the mountains or the moon. My children are grown and I have one who is 15 that just grew up overnight. But, I remember hanging clothes on a line in the Summer with all of my first three around my legs. It's funny how the memories are so beautiful. When I first got married in 1972 eight track tapes were being made. Technology was just beginning. Little did I know that 35 years later I would be typing on a computer. I teach school and during college we would go to look up something in magazines and would have to dig through a ton of magazines in the library to find what we were looking for. Today I can bring anything into my classroom. If the magic school bus wants to go to the sea I can show the children the sea on my interactive whiteboard in the classroom. I have lived through the Kennedy years, Martin Luther King and am proud to say I was an active supporter of President Obama. I have lived through the history of music from the Beatles to the groups my child listens to today. What do I have trouble adapting to? It is being alone. That is why I'm on webdate. Each site we travel to on the computer makes a statement. Why do I come here? Hopefully for fun, to fill the empty moments of life, or to find that special man that would want to spend time with me the rest of my life.

Well I remember living without the internet. When I was a child growing up when it came to something to do it wasn't game-boys/PS3's and cell phones and the internet. It was going outside in the neighborhood and knocking on someones door and asking them what are they doing today? Now I see so many people while driving talking on their cells instead of paying attention slowing down traffic. I can say that at least I can enjoy the internet and it sure comes in handy for a lot of reasons.

Well if you find it difficult to find a man looking like that, what hope do I have. I think the internet and mobile phones have completely destroyed dating, people don't even try to be nice to each other anymore as it's too easy to just dump someone and move on now instead of tryng to salvage what you had. I was lucky enough to be around when you could walk in a club, and if a guy liked you, he would offer you a drink or a dance, Slow dances were the best, but have now vanished in England. After a couple of weeks, he would offer to walk you home and if you were really lucky, he'd kiss you on the doorstep.

Then I settled down, had a child, after ten years we split and my son's 15 now. My how things have changed. Where did all the gentlemen who cared go?? What a terrible shame. I have not found internet dating successful at all. You never actually meet anyone, they just talk. It's a lonely life, you are right.

I am pleased about more useful technology and I am least pleased about the lack of personal interaction on a social level.
More people tend to be in places like this rather than meeting at friend's parties, out in dance clubs(if you can find any that cater to our age group), etc.

Well, you can shove me up a dead bear's bum! I'm 64 years old, and I've just yesterday realised that I'm gay! How's that?
I've been so busy being a husband, father, responsible member of the community etc etc I've never taken the time to find out who the heck I am!
So I'm in my third failed marriage with seven children, about to come out and let rip...stand back, Melbourne!
Watch this space!!!
