I just don't understand. It usually occurs with girls around my age. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply.

How would one go about not giving the personification of the friend circle?

Too nice? I'm more of a laid-back type of dude. Doesn't take a lot to impress me. The way I look at it; hey their loss, no hard feelings on my end. I'll just keep doing me.

I was going to suggest the nice thing too. You don't have to be a jerk, though with a lot of girls that would probably work - but you might need to turn the heat up a bit more. The thing with being 'nice', is you never really know where you stand. Are they hanging with you because they like you? Or are you their new "friend". Put some moves out there. Yeah - you'll get rejected sometimes but so what, at least you'll know where you stand.

Maybe you seem too good to be true? I've never used that line as a way to say I'm not interested. You can be a laid back flirt. Compliments are always a good way to start.

It depends on what you're looking for. Compliments work for women who lack self-esteem, but not for the others. A high-quality woman will get hit on 100s of times every day, and nearly all of those are words she's heard before. She already knows she's hot. If you want to stand out from the crowd, do not use a compliment to TRY and get a conversation started. How about common interests instead? Compliments are fine once you know each other, but make sure they are genuine and don't overdo it.

I'm not saying compliments are the way to win over a woman, I'm saying they are a good way to start flirtation and get out of the friend zone. It doesn't really matter how she responds, does it? It puts the convo on a different level.

Yeah, I was talking about starting a convo with someone he doesn't already have a relationship with (friendship or otherwise), which is what I thought you were talking about. Apologies.

If he's already in the friend zone, she's probably already made her mind up though. Not that it couldn't change, but it might be an uphill battle. He's better off putting all that energy into someone he can start off on the right foot with.
