I was just wondering how many of you ladies and gents out there have ever dated people of another race/ethnicity? If so, how was your experience... Good? Bad? Would you do it again and if you've never done it, would you be open to it?

I am a huge fan of dating interracially. In high school I dated my own race but have branched out since and now I'm just stuck on the whole interracial thing.

Would like to hear others' thoughts.

I dont see any problem with it at all, I have never had any problem in my personal experiences. Its cool, you learn alot about each other. And honestly I live in NYC who the f*ck cares who your dating? I mean really. Race and skin color doesnt matter to me, its if she has respect for me, and is always presentable. I do what I gotta do as a man.

I'm totally against interracial dating or anything sexually.After all its called Interracial.as in enter-racial.as in entering SOMEONE Else's race that you do not belong in.the children suffer from others lusting after something they know they should not do.Mixed children suffer.what kinda of parent would that be to have a kid suffer from your mistake?

i dont think theres anything wrong with interracial dating.

since my divorce ive only tended to date black or asian girls nothing wrong with it all only persons who would have a issue with it are the racists or the ones in denial

I've dated dark-skinned and light-skinned alike, Dominican, Panamanian, Irish, Jamaican, Puerto Rican (even tho I am PR too, but this is just for argument's sake), had a cup of coffee with a Trini. The bottom line is that I don't see much of a real issue with dating outside your comfort zone (ethnicity, if your prefer.) They all have feelings and have different tendencies but those are of the individual herself, and not of the group as a whole. My preference is to date a Dominican chick, but will that stop me from dating others?? The answer is no. I could date a Trini or a Filipina, but what I see in them is not of a pity nature, it is that of "me liking you and getting to know you" nature. As long as you are getting to know that person and you both feel at a certain point that you're becoming a serious item, then more power to you. Old school segregation and beliefs in the old-fashioned way are for the most part done away with, except in very few instances.

So to answer the question bluntly, I do not oppose of it and would like to date outside of my ethnicity more. There are only so few days in our lives to begin with dissecting every nook and cranny of other ethnic groups.

I've dated outside of my race and had bad experiences. I dated an Asian man for a few months and everything was great until he took me to meet his parents and they were upset that I am white. They had invited me over for dinner and I was kicked out less than 5 minutes after meeting them... Never made it out of the foyer of the house before I was literally pushed outside by his mom as she chewed him out in Chinese.

My family was very close with a Mexican family and had been for over 20 years. I grew up with their kids and after high school started seeing one of the sons which ended because his parents were angry. I guess we were good enough to be their friends and share all kinds of family celebrations and travel together but not good enough to date. The relationship between families is strained now.

I got my ass kicked in college because I was dating one of the African-American football players. I was one of the new Caucasian people living on the floor and one night I staggered home from the bars and was attacked by 3 of my floor mates. As I was getting stomped and spit on one girl kept yelling, "Why you gotta take one of our brothas from us b*tch! Cracka ass ho!"

From my experiences I guess a lot of people's family pressures stop them from stepping outside of their race. I wish more people would see people as "people" and not focus on skin color or race... Just try to find a good person who makes you happy.

You have your opinion...whatever. However you can't validly voice experiences about interracial dating since you have no experience with it (unless you did and she shredded your hear, which would explain your viewpoint on this. And I'm sorry if that happened.)

I know you say that you have friends who are black, but do they know about your racist thoughts? Do they know that you would want to shoot them if they dated someone you didn't approve of? That, doesn't sound like a friendship I'd want to be in. You also said that you wouldn't mess with a white woman who has dated a black man...I guess you take inventory of every girls' dating past on the 1st date or something?

Another thing, how many people can actually claim that they are not mixed with some other ethnicity? It's just very rare and I am willing to bed you could trace your roots back to another ethnicity. I wonder how much genuine contact you've had with black people. If you dislike us so much, why bother even spending time around us? Not every black person speaks as you say with the "yo,yo,yo,yo man whats up?" shows that you buy into stereotypes. Not every black person does. I am very educated and certainly don't speak like that...I never have. Usually, I don't waste my time arguing with people online, but I was irritated that, still in 2008, we have this kind of insane thinking going on. I thought we had progressed further than this. Black people, Mexican people, White people, Asian people and others are going to be around in this world. It's just the way life is and hope you can just learn to just realize that people are people despite their differences.

I wonder how he feels now that our president elect is Mr. Obama. That shows HUGE steps in our Nation's progress in terms of race relations and that we are starting to see people for who they are, their qualifications, and what they are capable of doing verses the color of their skin.

One thing I should have quoted from you was how so many of us are of mixed ethnicitys. Ask almost any American their race / ethnicity and 99% will rattle off a few verses just saying, "I am American." Conflicts do happen between strictly Caucasian ethnic groups too... A lot of English and Irish people hate each other and so many groups dislike the French. LOL!

I hate engaging in a battle of the wits with the unarmed! Some people are on these sites to get the attention they don't get in their real world personal lives. They love stirring the pot to get reactions. Sad really.

Those people who couldn't accept you or your relationships for something so insignificant as skin color just have issues. I went on a date with a black man who I found very attractive, but our personalities just didn't click and he kept questioning why I do the things I do.

But back to the topic at hand, if someone dates people outside their race it is their choice and though it will be harder for their kids, especially if there are still racist relatives in their families, it is their choice if they are willing to deal with that. Some people also only date certain ethnicities because that is what they find attractive. There is no harm in that, but I dont see why people attack someone for dating outside their own ethnicity.

Yeah...the re are all kinds of 'isms' floating around out there. They all suck. I agree, that voting for Obama shouldn't have been racially driven, yet everyone assumes that if you're black, you voted for him. On the other hand, I have some conservative views and people assume if you're REALLY a Christian you voted Republican. Both views are crap in my opinion.

Back to the topic though: True, everyone has to decide their path in life. However, being a racist isn't an excuse to bash people based on their skin color or their choosing a significant other who has a different skin color. That's exactly what the other guy in this thread did. Was I insulted? A little bit. And I felt it necessary to correct him on his inaccuracies. I would have respected his differing point of view had he said it in respectable, respectful, non-derogatory way. I'm not at all sorry for what I posted in this thread.
