Lemme ask this.......If you were in a car traveling at the speed of light and turned your headlights on......would they actually be on? Explain your answer either way...thanks :o)

I've heard that the light would light but not project out of it's bound of exsistence and the type of light would make a difference in what the speed of light is!

If you fire a mk. 2 rocket from a plane flying at mk. 2 will it fire???????? Sorry Ice-y but the questions are fundamentally different. Mk 2 is an arbitrary speed depending on the density of atmosphere, gravity, and the definition of sound (the range that humans hear is pretty narrow). Exceeding it is easy. (Bonus marks for knowing if the answer is Mk 3 or Mk 4). The speed of light is a theoretical maximum that cannot be achieved. For a tangible object to reach 'c', you would (literally) need an infinite amount of energy. So, a light beam would always be at least a teensy bit faster than the ship with the broken speedometer.

WHAT?? Is that answer ment to confuse me or him? they are the same question... ir an objece is in motion, or light rays, u have to use a totally different math. your point of reference, IE: the object is already in motion, therefore, the speed of light or MK "2" =0. its basic as it gets......... broken, what????

MK. speed is not the sound barrier it depends on air density and other things. but my question, non specific or not, is still the same as the one he answered , WRONG.

Excuse me: to the drivers perspective. the lights are ON!!!! to a spectator they would appear to be off.. the plane was just my attempt to simplify the original question....... OH,,,,,,, IN A BARN IT WOULD BE DIFFERENT. .. LMAO.

never argue with an ignorant person because they will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Ice-y... I thought we might find a higher road to philosophical discussions around the speed of light. On the one hand, it appears that this is not a theoretical limit but rather an absolute. Nothing, except human imagination, says that infinity has any basis in reality. On the other hand, no amount of acceleration can take you to the speed of light simply because, as you go faster, Lorentz field contractions change the shape of the relative universe which means your acceleration curve becomes more energy expensive or, looked at another way, you stop accelerating because there is no energy. Again, as a thought experiment, it is possible to imagine infinity but you don't get there.

Ummmmmm, what! ?!? Did u actually read what you wrote?..................Well, the lights on my truck were going. 670,616,699 mph.. the speed of light is only 670,616,629 mph. so there is no limit. ....... thus infinity.

Google will get you to the words you are looking for but not the tools necessary to interpret what you see.

lorentz field, is about perspective, not physical. U givin me a head ach, trying to figure out what your theories are. none have made since, so far.... I'm not trying to be a dik or nothing but ya lost me.

We already send molecules, of MATTER at the speed of light....... therefore your argument confuses me...
