Life boats? Who needs that. I know a trick that I can do with my pants that will help me float.

Okay... I thought that was funny, but actually in the event your are in a plane crash, or on a boat that is sinking you can use a pair jeans or khakis to help you float.

If you can manage to take them off while treading water you can tie the legs behind your head. You can trap air in the pants enough to give you a little more buoyancy. This can be done by opening the waste band, lifting it over the water and pulling it down in the water.

This technique is taught in the Army and Marine Corp. I have done it before.

Get your head above water. Float on your stomach with your arms outstretched, remembering to turn your head to the side to breathe regularly. Remove your shoes. Kick them off if possible, or bend down into the water to untie them.

2
Use your shirt as a temporary flotation device. If the shirt has buttons, turn the collar inside out to create a seal. Unbutton the second button, take a deep breath and exhale deeply into the open button hole. Pull the material closed and lower yourself into the water. The air will settle into the shoulders of the shirt, adding buoyancy. If your shirt lacks buttons, tie off the bottom to create a tight fit, breathe into the collar and seal it as well as possible.

3
Remove your pants underwater. Button and zip the fly closed, and tie the pants legs together in a square knot.

4
Orient the pants fly towards you and swing the pants over your head to trap air. Kick hard during this process to avoid toppling over. When the pants legs are full of air, bring the waistband below the water's surface. Tie off the waistband as well as possible.

5
Place the tied-together legs behind your head with the waistband in front of you. The pants should now resemble a life preserver. Keep the waistband submerged and lean back against the inflated legs.

6
Splash the pants legs with water frequently to avoid drying. If the pants dry, air will be able to escape.

How many will be praying on that special day (plane crash or boat sinking) you are wearing your little sister's running shorts!

I know of one or two that would not mind that scenario. Good thing is my sister has very bad taste in clothing and does not like to shave her legs because we only let her out of her cage on a weekly basis.

She wears longer pants all the time because of that. Granted they would be a little tight on me, but you know I could just where a print shirt with a brittish flag on it and pass them for skinny jeans. Then when the plane crashes I will still be okay.

I have a 44 gallon fish tank of aggressive South African cichlids(?) Recently I discovered two small babies in the tank. (fish) Unknown to me at the time, I should have separated them from the rest of the tank. Too bad more humans don't eat their young!

Unfortunately I procreated too. By the grace of god my kids did not acquire my deficiencies so I do not need to be shot. However, I agree, some people should not be breading at all. Florida has the most instances that would lead someone to support selective breeding. We seem to accumulate a lot of cast offs.
