Interesting thought but that would be too overt and obvious. All the brothers and sisters would unite and oppose through their bought and paid for legislators. Still, it would help to keep all Americans apart, and that is the #1 rule of politics - divide and conquer. If we ever once united on anything, politicians would immediately support it - to save their asses. So, we'll see where it goes - maybe to the home of the famous Tucker automobile. Who knows?

Elijah, I agree with you. Living in a "safe" area only means that others travel to you to do harm. Even when living in a poor area, there are those who will rob you cause they are too lazy or ignorant to go where the wealth is. So long as there is no caring for others, there will be crime. More laws is just a political game, without any effect except higher taxes.

...the notion of everyone of us helping to make Ghettos a better community is as worthless as Acorn putting a HOPE sticker on my Benz. F-that. Time for people to stop asking and start doing. How about the neighborhood fixes itself from the inside out. How about these communities loose the practise of "hear a lot of evil, see a lot of evil" but don't ax me for names of people involved. Sure there are tons of good people in bad neighborhoods. But waiting on handouts and others to fix the issues is getting old. Get ready in November - most of those programs are as good as dead.

Staci, it sounds like you are talking about something called personal accountability. Schools and parents no longer teach that concept. If one tries to apply in his/or her own life they receive criticism from the rest of the sheople who are waiting for a handout.

I hope you are right about November.

These days it seems like there's an app for everything. But one app has stirred mixed emotions in its attempt to help make pedestrians' lives a little bit easier.

Microsoft is being slammed for its new feature that some have dubbed the "avoid ghetto" app, although it still does not have an official name. The app is meant to help anyone traveling on foot avoid bad weather, tough terrain and unsafe neighborhoods, NPR reports. It uses a combination of information from maps, weather reports, crime statistics and demographics to give users a comprehensive route recommendation. But while some say it is an innocent GPS system that features important information, others criticize it for reinforcing negative assumptions about certain neighborhoods and the people that live there.

According to the company's "Pedestrian Route Production" patent the app is simply a device pedestrians can use to determine the most effective route to their final destination.

"As a pedestrian travels, various difficulties can be encountered, such as traveling through an unsafe neighborhood or being in an open area that is subject to harsh temperatures," Microsoft states in its patent. "A route can be developed for a person taking into account factors that specifically affect a pedestrian. Moreover, the route can alter as a situation of a user changes; for instance, if a user wants to add a stop along a route."

But as Sarah Chinn, author of "Technology and the Logic of American Racism," told NPR, despite appealing to an understandable desire to feel safe, the app could reinforce stereotypical views of certain races and socio-economic classes.

"In much of dominant American culture," she told the news outlet. "There's an assumption that criminality and being poor and not white go hand in hand."

Others said the app isn't targeting anyone in particular because of its use of crime statistics.

"I don't think anybody from any particular race is being singled out because they are using crime data to come up with these figures," said Loop21.com editor Maurice Garland, who also wrote a humorous piece on the subject for the website. "If you don't want to end up in those places, I don't see anything wrong with somebody trying to help you out."

According to the 2010 FBI crime report, whites were arrested more often for violent crimes that year than any other race, NPR reports. But Dallas NAACP president, Juanita Wallace, told CBS Dallas that the app is discriminatory because most people assume African Americans commit more crimes.

"In much of dominant American culture," she told the news outlet. "There's an assumption that criminality and being poor and not white go hand in hand."

---Criminality and being poor unfortunately do go together more often than not. I am getting so tired of the assumption that whites are not criminal. We all have different issues within our race, how we relate with other races and it is based on our culture, our education level, our class level and our HISTORY to name a few reasons. I have met black people who were more cultured and educated than I am, as a matter of fact I have been turned down by a beautiful black man simply for not being black. He didn't date outside his race. Being white does not automatically mean no crime, or more opportunity...not anymore, if it ever really did, because a lot of blacks died at the hand of their own people who dragged them through the Sahara Desert to sell them to the arabs first ...and then the whites. Our political correctness is sweeping our natural and real prejudice against people who are different than us, under the rug. There are some sore spots based on history and it is between all of us. Seriously, look at the english and the northern irish...both white and terrorism in Northern Ireland and in Britain at the hand of irish was rampant for decades... I can keep going but anyway. Know your history, educate yourself about different cultures and ethnicities, and openly discuss them, that will end racism. I categorically oppose this globalization bs...Homogenizing the world will take away the most wonderful thing about it: THE MANY BRIGHT COLORS!!(I mean "colors" to mean more than just skin color here).

"In much of dominant American culture," she told the news outlet. "There's an assumption that criminality and being poor and not white go hand in hand."

---I have seen white neighborhoods and hispanic and asian neighborhoods I wouldn't want to be driving through. I have been called guerra sp? by hispanics, and silly little white girl and approached with intimidation tactics by blacks, but you want to know the worst I ever felt about who I am based on my ethinicity? When I bumped into Russians at a party in America: I was all excited like "Hey, cool! I am romanian!"....I have never felt lower and poorer and seen more disgusted faces and reactions in my life. Our prejudices are so much deeper rooted than our skin color!!

Am I making my point yet?

Regarding this app.- I have taken a few wrong turns in areas not far from my where I live that were terrifying...industrial areas, with bullet holes in the walls and borded up windows. I can't relate and I am sorry for the people who have no other options...but I would have appreciated a guide to the quickest way out of there. Oh and the white/black deal will always be such a sensitive issue specifically in the US: about... I will say 5 blocks or so from where I live, I stopped at high noon and asked 2 black chicks and 1 black guy for directions for a place in that general area: The initial reaction to me even being there was like in the movies...the guy got over my color quicker...the girls went from being intimading because I was white, to being even more aggravated because the guy was so nice trying to help me out.

So much fucking bull shit in this world...I think the more we try to pretty it all up with laws that go againsts human nature, and this idea that we are all the same, the worse the problem will be. Racism is up front and personal in some parts of the world...and guess what, ironically people are more appreciative of the reality of what it is and would rather know, then be smiled to their faces and lied to their backs.

PS. I find NAACP (using "colored people") to be racist. Same applies to the United Negro College Fund. What would happen if there was ever an organization that was publicly advertised to be for WHITE PEOPLE?? This country is warped with their race issues. I just looked up the word Negro in Wiki..it's funny to find how many people are still accepting of that term. Well...in my language NEGRU mean black...but when we came here we were told when we spoke our language to be very careful when using the word Black..as in I want a Black suit...because people might think we were being racist.

Bottom line, we needed specific civil rights organizations to defeat segregation and stop treating black people and people with dark skin color like they were less than...but it's been decades...maybe not enough, as far as I am concerned, the continued separation of organizations for specific ethinicities, and cultures...will do the exact opposite of ending racism.

This separation will feed statements that will automatically assume that a "ghetto" or crime means black people. Places in the world where poverty is higher will always have crime. People are driven to different measures in order to survive...and when you have to feed your kids...you don't stop to worry about color. Hunger has no color. I am not supporting crime, I am simply explaining the logic and connection between poverty and crime...not black people and crime.

UGH...I probably should have stayed away from this, now I feel all crappy.

People suck! All sizes, shapes, colors, social levels, education, cultures, ethinicities...etc. They all SUCK!! We have been and will always be self-destructive.

I would rather live with animals...

I am fine...just don't feel well enough to take on some idiot who is chastizing me for doing exactly what I am suppose to do on a public forum. Technically, if he is actually reading my never-ending diatribe on apparently EVERY issue, tells me he lacks a life more than I do...at least, I am learning from this stuff, half the time I am researching stuff to post but I digress...

xoxo back to the tuna can, kitty....here kitty kitty kitty...LOL!! this cold has rendered me delirious.
