Heres what I have to say! Just because men and women get older does not mean that they shouldn't keep themselves in shape! You're body is the only vessel you have. Take good care of the inside and it will show on the outer! Do men think that women aren't visual? I think heavy people should look for like body type. Yes some ladies like heavy men. Cant say that I'll date one. I can be anyones friend. But I cant date someone who is over weight! or chubby. Does that sound bad? or to each his own and we should live and let live?

You answered your own question. Live and let live is best. I try not to assault the character of canadrocks, no matter what he says, because he has to live with himself 24/7 and that is punishment enough.

Fat people develop rationalizations and excuses and aggressive replies, but they KNOW inside what they are and outside advice bounces off them. I think it only hardens their armor.

Lastly, I learned that when I criticized others, it was likely the same behavior in myself that I was ashamed of. So, rather than to be nasty to others, I was better if I worked on fixing myself. Not easy but well worth the effort.

Incidentally, I admire what you say on your page. :-) You would be a quality friend.

On the weight issue, the whole argument of Nature verses Nurture will probably never be fully resolved. On the Nature side it is apparent there are some people who will be heavy no matter what they, their genetics is all wrong. I have a cousin who has spent a life time actively fighting the weight issue.

On the Nurture side is is equally apparent people will overeat and under exercise if given the opportunity. You need but visit a museum of medieval European art to see those that could afford food overate while the peasant farmers working the land without even aid of a plow horse looked anemic.

It is tough to stay in shape when you get older, but then getting older is also not a natural process. It is with the develop of modern medicine have people started living past their mid forties. Previously people lived just long enough to crank out few kids and get those kids up to up the reductive age so as to the species going. Given the child mortality rate and the number of woman who died in child birth, this was no small matter.

Anyway I am going stop here before I raise the hackles of all those good people who consider science the great evil and history a waste of time.

I am overweight, and before I get all butthurt and go ape shit on this forum, I will like to remind you that not all people make a choice about their health.

There are way too many factors involved and I have known too many people of various races, cultures who eat a hell of a lot more than I do and never gain weight. There are also plenty of conditions and situations that are difficult to correct or overcome.

I could be leaner, I simply have more pressing issues to concern myself with at this time than worry about over critical people who judge others by the way they look and decide who they should be with. Your skin-deep, superficial point of view makes you less of a quality person as far as I am concerned. People should be judged by their characters and the goodness of their hearts not by Hollywood inspired vanity.

You are empty for having the point of view you do...I feel sorry for you.

Thank you both for your amusing dance. Even though not rehearsed, it was wonderful entertainment and very inspiring. You both stayed with the beat. :-)

I totally agree - body height, weight, hair, skin color, etc are largely a factor of genetics. I also know too little body mass is often more dangerous to your long term health as too much mass.

But nurture - the environment - plays a role here too. I am pretty much guaranteed I will never overeat my way to an overweight state because I get physically ill if I overeat. By overeat I mean I take in food on a nibble basis. And believe I wish my condition on no one.

And yes most of the this stuff is driven by Hollywood standards of what constitutes beauty.

But by all means rant, let your feelings be known.
